A Prefeitura de Sorocaba, por meio da Secretaria da Saúde (SES), realizará, nas Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBSs), durante este mês de maio, várias ações de conscientização voltadas à população sobre pessoas com doença celíaca.
A inciativa aborda sobre a Lei nº 12.757, de 4 de abril de 2023, de autoria do vereador Péricles Régis, que estabelece a política municipal de proteção às pessoas com doença celíaca. Serão realizadas ações, visando ao esclarecimento das características, dos sintomas e do tratamento dessa doença, por meio de orientações e palestras.
A doença celíaca é uma enfermidade autoimune ocasionada pela intolerância ao glúten, uma proteína encontrada em alimentos, como: trigo, aveia, cevada, centeio e seus derivados, a exemplo de massas, pizzas, bolos, pães, biscoitos, cerveja, uísque, vodca e alguns doces, provocando dificuldade do organismo em absorver os nutrientes dos alimentos, vitaminas, sais minerais e água.
O principal tratamento recomendado é a dieta com total ausência de glúten, pois quando a proteína é excluída da alimentação, os sintomas desaparecem. Devido à doença celíaca não ter cura, a dieta deve ser seguida rigorosamente pela vida toda.
